Discover 'Love' anew, at The Philosophy Bar Colony Rooms Mayfair

  • Colony Room Green 4 Heddon Street London, England, W1B 4BS United Kingdom (map)

Join Lucy McDonaldSean Maroney, and Vanessa Brassey—philosophers at King’s College London—for a pop-up Philosophy Bar hosted by Colony Room, exploring the theme of Love.

Where: Colony Room Green (basement bar), 4 Heddon St, London W1B 4BS

Set downstairs at the perfectly recreated Colony Rooms, the famous preferred hangout for Lucien Freud and Francis Bacon, order yourself a drink and take a seat to participate in these playful and thought-provoking exchanges, guided by philosophers and sparked by a simple deck of question cards. Choose a prompt from the pack, and test your thinking, and see where the conversation leads.

Come for curiosity, stay for surprise—and leave with fresh ideas to mull over.

How does is work?

Book a seat (tickets are released for early birds one week ahead), arrive 10 minutes before your start time to say hello and grab a drink, and we’ll introduce you to your philosopher. You’ll pick a puzzle from the card game pack, read the question out loud, and then have ten minutes of one-to-one conversation. The questions are sharp enough to cut through small talk, but open enough for anyone to step into—no background in philosophy required.

Come curious. Leave lighter.

Early Bird Booking is here (this link takes you to another website where you can reserve your seat).
